Tucker Carlson: The 4 Star General of the Culture War
Andrew Breitbart once said “politics is downstream from culture” and in today’s age how can anyone disagree with that? Everywhere you look even Stevie Wonder can see that politics and culture are becoming woven tighter together day in and day out. In almost every section of pop culture you’d be hard-pressed not to find agenda driven messages intertwined with beloved outlets that many use to actually get away from politics. Yet and still movies, tv shows, music and sports are continuously being used as platforms to push left-wing ideologies. To many it comes off as aggressive, irrational and overwhelming.
If it’s not the 2020 Academy Award Best Picture Winner “Parasite” that seeks to highlight the “grave injustice” of living in a world where people have more money than you, or the on going soap opera of athletes kneeling for the National Anthem, it’s something else that makes just about half of voters sigh and roll their eyes. It’s more than simply being annoyed with the bombardment of selfishly misplaced gestures that have become the norm, ratings data from award shows like the Oscars and Golden Globes to the NBA playoffs also suggest that people are tuning out. These are numbers that one would imagine might’ve increased considering that over the course of the past year many more people have been stuck at home (watching tv) due to lockdown measures. Seemingly we are getting what we didn’t ask for from people who we don’t care to get it from. Couple that with the fact that many people frankly don’t care about or empathize with the issues and virtue signaling being perpetuated by messengers and institutions that don’t share their value systems and constantly disparage them.
(Yoda Voice) “Begun the culture war has” and if you’re on the side that just wants to watch a football game without someone attempting abash you or your beliefs you might feel unchaperoned tiptoeing through the minefield of cancel culture, third and fourth wave feminism, critical race theory and the many other devices of cultural marxists. If you have kids, most of the mainstream media might make you feel guilty about not wanting the little ones to partake in “drag queen story hour”. You also might think the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus’ song about converting your children is debauchery, even though they claim it to be satire, are you willing to publicly speak out against it? Probably not, out fear of possibly losing your job. You’re in a culture war whether you like it or not and if you haven’t been living under a rock you more than likely realize it. It feels like you’re outnumbered, and you might be, but are you outgunned?
Many election campaigns and pundits have used the idea of the “Silent Majority” in their talking points but what good is a majority in the midst of a culture war if they are silent? We definitely know the other side is louder even if it’s a matter of debate as to which side is larger. What match is silence to the onslaught of regressive ideas and outbursts about alleged inequality coming from the droves of social media social justice warriors? The silent majority doesn’t have an armory of “based” tirades to combat the “woke” tantrums from the likes of people that believe diversity quotas are part of what makes a movie quality cinema. Yes they have most mainstream news outlets especially CNN and MSNBC, yes they Hollywood, yes they have music and yes, for all intents and purposes they have culture. But you are counter culture and you have something they don’t… you have Tucker Carlson.
Fox New’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight” is a Daenerys Targaryen dragon of the culture war that blasts fire and burns down the poorly constructed false narratives that are pushed and regurgitated across mainstream media. For every illogical and false claim that groups like Black Lives Matter tries to beat Americans down with, Tucker Carlson has a monologue that’s well written, witty, sophisticated and most importantly factual to rebuke and collapse it. Where other news programs use emotional pulls, hostile approaches and false reporting, Tucker Carlson Tonight calls attention to the inferior ways of the press. He’ll point out things like reporters saying looting and rioting are “mostly peaceful” while a department store is clearly ablaze in the background. He also exposed the smear campaign that the fake news ran against teenager Nick Sandmann and his Covington Catholic high school classmates. He reported how the media rushed to judgement of this young man because he had on a MAGA hat and how they claimed that he and his classmates approached an elderly Native American man and harassed him which was proven to be false. Sandmann won his lawsuit against those media companies and was awarded millions for the whole ordeal.
Carlson’s show does have moments for his opinion to be expressed and even this is done with a level of journalistic integrity that one can imagine gives Don Lemon night terrors. Tucker’s commentary has propelled him to a position were he not only dominates the cable news ratings but is also a pillar for moderates, right-wingers and people who don’t think traditional values are horrible and oppressive. It’s not just what Tucker says but how he says it. He is sharp yet simple. He talks in a way that resonates with the blue collar segment of society while exploring concepts that have enough controversy and complexity to catch the ear of the upper class, all while posing an ideological threat to coastal elites. He has exhibited balance in such occasions as when he leveled criticism to right-wing lawyer Sidney Powell who made baseless claims to one day “release the kraken” and singlehandedly expose a rigged election, which she never did. He also has the willingness to refer to a bureaucratic FBI official who is in favor of government surveillance of American citizens as a “stooge” just like you might hear at construction site or anywhere else where physical labor earns people a living.
There are those that feel like Tucker Carlson should run for President and maybe they are on to something. If you are one of these people the question then becomes “where is a force like Tucker Carlson more impactful”? In a YouTube video from Don’t Walk, Run! Productions in which Senior Political Analyst Andrew creates a “2024 Republican Presidential Candidate Tier List” he includes Tucker as a top tier candidate but also says “he’s doing a great job as a 4 star general in the culture war” and he is absolutely right. On any given night you’re likely to find Mr. Carlson slicing and dicing Joe Biden for the too many to count gaffes that hardly any other media outlets address. From legitimately asking if Biden has handlers based off of the poor mental state he often displays or calling attention to Kamala Harris and her lack of authenticity based off of the many position flip-flops in her career, Tucker asks the questions we want to ask and says the things we want to say. When the media hailed Stormy Daniels’ attorney Michael Avenatti as “like the Holy Spirit” not only were they praising an extortionist, later to be discovered, Tucker was there to remind you that they were glorifying a “creepy porn lawyer”. He highlighted how the bar to be a hero to the left is low and what poor judges of character they are. In a way he reinforces the things you already know, even when CNN tells you otherwise. To detached uppity so called journalists like Brian Stelter you might be a deplorable, but to Tucker in true leadership form you have grievances that are of paramount importance. He is willing to stick his neck out and face the lynch mob of cancel culture to lead the way and for you to have a powerful voice when no one else wants you to.
Why does he do it? Why is he so relentless? It’s hard to say it’s for the money because lefty executives are cutting most of the checks these days and Tucker has had a target on his back and is always in the sights of cultural marxists. They fear him and they have shown they’d love to get him off the air and reduce him to the fate of his predecessor, the less culturally relevant Bill O’Reilly. Largely unfounded sexual harassment claims have been thrown his way that went nowhere. Throughout the course of Tucker Carlson Tonight’s history a bunch of companies have stopped advertising during his time slot. Most recently amongst his coverage of the lack of transparency in the 2020 Presidential Election, Tucker has broadcasted that a National Security Agency whistleblower informed Fox News producers that he was being spied on. Allegedly the NSA planned to leak private emails and texts of Carlson’s in an attempt to get him off the air. These claims are pretty damning considering that a major cable news network like Fox would vet such accusations before airing them. With enemies mounted Tucker stays the course like a rebel with a cause. Tucker’s Fox News show is so disruptive to mainstream media precisely because he is part of mainstream media. He is a monkey wrench in the machine that doesn’t want you to question things like why the Hunter Biden laptop story was buried right before the election.
Recently Time Magazine published an article where they claim that Tucker continuously dips his toe in the pool of conspiracy theory even though they never give an example of him doing this. The article enters the lazy school of thought where everything is an “ism” out to get you. Racism, sexism, ableism, Trumpism and now Tuckerism. No I’m not joking, the article actually goes on to say that “Tuckerism” is like “Trumpism” just less aggressive and more nimble. As you can see many of the evaluations of Tucker Carlson are laughable and that is why you should always consider the source. The other side will always try to reduce the facts, logic, wit and sarcasm that are Tucker’s mode of operation. Despite the attempts to derail this culture warrior with nefarious coverage he continues his broadcasts and continues to be critical of those that are critical of you. Maybe it’s because he has similar values as you. Or maybe it’s because he understands that without election integrity our country is lost. Or maybe he gets a kick out of constantly delivering philosophical knock outs to those that hate Trump era conservatives. Whatever his reasons, he is masterful at what he does and you are fortunate to have him on your side as a major player in the culture war that currently wages.
